On November 9, 1996 The Vietnam Veterans of America, Baltimore Chapter 451, dedicated a UH-1C restored to the colors of a Stinger Gunship of the 116th Assault Helicopter Company. The restoration was done by Jack Tarr, a Stinger Crew Chief and Jim Henthorn, a former Air Force Jolly Green Giant Crewman. Former Hornet 6, Major General Hank Small gave the Keynote Address. In conjunction with the Dedication a reunion of members of the Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Network was held in Washington.
It has come to our attention that The Vietnam Veterans of America, Baltimore Chapter 451 have removed the Stinger colors from the gunship and replaced it with another units colors. This is a real slap in the face to all the people who worked so hard for this monument to the Stingers.
